Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
This policy explains what information Kick Ups collects, why we collect it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us — the address is at the bottom.
1. Who we are
Kick Ups (the “app”) is owned and operated by FootVault Limited, a company registered in New Zealand. FootVault Limited is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy — meaning we decide what data is collected and how it is used.
The app is called “Kick Ups: AI Juggle Coach” on the App Store and “Kick Ups” on your home screen.
2. What we collect
We only collect what the app needs to work. That is:
| Account email | When you sign up or sign in (by email, Apple, or Google), we receive your email address to create and secure your account. If you sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your email, in which case we receive a private relay address. |
|---|---|
| Juggling videos & photos | The short videos (and any still frames) you record or upload so the app can count your juggles and coach your technique. These are uploaded to our storage and processed by the AI services listed below. |
| Analysis results | Your juggle counts, technique scores, coaching notes, streaks, personal bests, and training history generated from your videos. |
| Profile details | A display name (and optional profile photo) you choose, used to identify you on the leaderboard. |
| Subscription status | Whether you have an active trial or paid subscription, managed through the App Store / Google Play and our subscription provider. We do not see or store your full payment card details — those are handled by Apple or Google. |
| Basic usage & device data | Limited technical data such as app version, device type, crash reports, and which features are used, so we can keep the app stable and improve it. |
3. How we use it
We use the information above to:
- count the juggles in your video and score your technique;
- generate personalised coaching notes and training suggestions;
- track your progress — personal bests, streaks, and weekly totals;
- rank players on the global leaderboard (see the leaderboard section below);
- create and secure your account, and manage your trial and subscription;
- send you app notifications you have opted into;
- keep the app working, fix bugs, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
4. Our legal basis (for users in the UK/EU)
Where data-protection law (such as the UK GDPR or EU GDPR) applies, we rely on these bases: performance of a contract (to provide the app and your subscription), your consent (for camera/photo access and notifications, which you can withdraw), and our legitimate interests (keeping the app secure, stable, and improving it). New Zealand users are protected under the Privacy Act 2020.
5. Who processes your data
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf and only for the purposes above. We do not let them use your data for their own marketing.
| Supabase | Account authentication, database, and secure storage of your videos and analysis results. |
|---|---|
| RevenueCat | Manages your subscription and trial status across the App Store and Google Play. |
| Anthropic | Processes selected frames from your videos to generate coaching feedback (AI analysis). |
| Roboflow | Computer-vision processing used to detect the ball and movement in your videos so juggles can be counted accurately. |
| Apple & Google | Sign-in, app distribution, in-app purchases and billing, and push notifications. They handle all payment details. |
Some of these providers may process data outside New Zealand (for example in Australia, the United States, or the EU). We choose providers that commit to appropriate safeguards for that data.
6. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share your videos with advertisers. The only sharing that happens is with the service providers listed above, who process data strictly to make the app work.
7. Leaderboard and public information
Kick Ups has a global leaderboard. If you appear on it, other players may see your chosen display name, profile photo, and juggle count. Your email address and your actual videos are never shown publicly. If you do not want to appear, you can contact us to be removed.
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your account data and training history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information — including your uploaded videos — within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations.
9. Your rights and choices
- Access & correction — ask for a copy of your data or to correct it.
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and data (see Support for how).
- Notifications — turn push notifications on or off in your device settings.
- Camera / photos — grant or revoke access in your device settings at any time.
- Complaints — if you are in New Zealand you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner; in the UK/EU, your local data-protection authority.
10. Children
Football is for all ages, and Kick Ups may be used by younger players. Where the app is used by a child, it should be set up and supervised by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for the account and for any videos uploaded. If you believe a child has provided us information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Security
We protect your data with industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections, access controls, and storage that is only reachable through your authenticated account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond quickly if anything goes wrong.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app.
